Use this color test screen to inspect monitor colors, screen uniformity and pixel behavior with exact fullscreen solid colors.

A visual screening tool for monitors and laptop displays. No download is required.

Step by step

How to Test Monitor Colors

  1. Clean the monitor screen.
  2. Use your normal monitor brightness.
  3. Click a test color or Start Color Test.
  4. Allow fullscreen mode when prompted.
  5. Check the full screen for inconsistent color, dark areas, bright spots or stuck pixels.
  6. Repeat the inspection with red, green, blue, white, black and gray.

Visual screening only: Solid colors can help reveal possible pixel, uniformity, brightness or tint issues, but this page is not a professional calibration or diagnostic instrument.

What Is a Color Test Screen?

A color test screen fills the monitor with one solid color so you can visually inspect panel uniformity, pixel behavior and color consistency without distracting content. Red, green and blue backgrounds isolate the primary subpixels, while white, black and gray help reveal differences in brightness, tint and dark-screen behavior. This browser-based display color test is useful for an initial check of a monitor or laptop screen. Results depend on the panel, brightness, room lighting and viewing angle, so the tool should be treated as a visual screening aid rather than a measurement device.

What Different Test Colors Can Show

Test ColorWhat to Inspect
RedCan help reveal red subpixel irregularities and pixels that do not follow the test color.
GreenUseful for checking green subpixel behavior and broad uniformity differences.
BlueUseful for blue subpixel issues and areas with a noticeably different tint.
WhiteCan make dark pixels, brightness variation and dirty-screen effects easier to notice.
BlackCan reveal bright pixels, fixed edge lighting, glow and possible backlight bleed.
GrayUseful for inspecting panel uniformity, banding and subtle tint differences.

What the Screen Color Test Can Help Detect

Solid test colors can make possible dead or stuck pixels, uneven brightness, tint differences, color uniformity issues and other visible panel defects easier to locate. Compare a suspicious area across several colors and from your normal viewing position. Dust, reflections and viewing angle can resemble a screen defect, so clean the panel and confirm the same location more than once.

Color Test Screen vs Monitor Calibration

This page provides a visual monitor color test. It cannot measure color accuracy, create an ICC profile or replace a colorimeter. Professional calibration requires dedicated measurement hardware and compatible software to evaluate white point, gamma, luminance and color response. Use this tool to spot obvious visual inconsistencies before deciding whether more precise testing is needed.

Test Your Gaming Monitor

Color consistency, dark-screen behavior and pixel condition can all affect everyday viewing. When evaluating gaming monitors, inspect several solid colors as well as real games and video at your normal brightness and viewing distance.

Common questions

What is a color test screen?

It is a solid fullscreen color used to visually inspect pixel behavior, brightness and panel uniformity.

How do I test monitor colors?

Clean the screen, use normal brightness and inspect red, green, blue, white, black and gray backgrounds from your usual viewing position.

Can a color test screen detect dead pixels?

It can make possible dead or stuck pixels easier to see, but it cannot diagnose every panel defect.
